FEATURED - Mission Valley Resort Blog

So our pictures from Little Italy on our first night in San Diego on our way to dinner at Monello's was one of many pictures featured in a local hotel blog! How cool is that?!?

We seriously had so much fun in San Diego and I cannot wait until the both of us are able to go back.

Around the house and a garden update!

I picked up an awesome old, solid wood kid dresser from a woman around here with a re-sale shop.

I couldn't pass it up! I don't have a kid to give it to (yet) but I figured I could work on it in the mean time. Kid furniture can be so expensive and it is cheaply made now days. Plus I thought it would be fun to also re-do a piece that Dave had in storage so I am going to make them match.

Dave's piece will become a storage cabinet/changing table once I find some bun feet to add to it.

I found these cool glass knobs for the dresser that I think will really add some character to it!

Excuse my thumb but this is after day 1 of sanding. Underneath the blue paint was green paint. I have another day of sanding and then they should be ready to clean up and paint myself. I want to paint them a walnut brown and then do a crackle yellow finish on top.

Let the pool renovations begin! I am super excited our pool is getting resurfaced! All the water is drained, as of last night, and they started sandblasting today.

With all the rain we have had in south Texas lately, my garden has seem to explode over night!

My footwear at work!!

I think I planted my tomatoes too close together and I seriously need to go by Wal-Mart to get three more tomato cages.

I finally have cucumbers on the vines and I am hoping the egg plants will soon sprout.

The onions and chives are doing really well too!

I am super excited to know I can grow these things in my little garden area here. I cannot even imagine what my garden will be like when we move out to the property!

Our Honeymoon Book from Shutterfly

As part of a gift for writing reviews for some of the vendors we used from our wedding, Shutterfly sent us a discount code so I used it to make a book of our trip to California.

Hasta la vista honeymoon

Monday we went to the cave house to check out the inside of the cave and then we had a little mini wine tasting and lunch at We Olive.

Carly picked us up and took us down to Shelter Island for our last night in California. But only after we went back by Ballast Point to get a new growler and have lunch with the kids one last time.

Dinner at the hotel was great! We couldn't have asked for a better last night!

Until next time California......

Honeymooning La Jolla Style

Sunday night we stayed in La Jolla and went kayaking around the 7 caves at sunset. We had dinner at Hacke which was amazing and called i an early night since it was Sunday and there really wasn't anything going on.

Our walk back to the hotel that night on the Coast Walk was beautiful!

Honeymooning for the weekend

Saturday morning we got up and went to Beacons

And then we spent the better part of the afternoon in the backyard, drinking and playing with the kids in the pool.

Saturday night was date night for us so we went to the southside of Encinitas and had dinner at Union Kitchen which was great food as well. Then we bar hopped our way back home.

Honeymooning Day 2

Friday Carly picked us up and we decided to head down to Belmont Park. We had the kids in tow so it would be fun for them...plus there was a great place to eat on the beach!

Grabbing lunch at Draft on the beach

The wooden roller coaster was legit!

After Belmont Park we headed north to Carlsbad with our belongings and the growler in tow.

Unfortunately the growler had other ideas. Dave and I had opened it and had a few beers from it the night before and then it sat in the truck for a few hours. It wasn't hot but it apparently wasn't cool enough either. I was sitting just in front of it when it exploded and it seriously sounded like a gun shot!

Honeymooning in San Diego Day 1

We have never done things the super traditional way and our honeymoon wasn't an exception. We waited a few months so we could save up for it and go when the weather was nicer. Our honeymoon plans changed so many times but we decided on San Diego, mainly to save money ans stay with my sister and her family for two or three days! Bonus - we get to see them and the kids. The epic road trip will always be on the vacation list though.

Thursday we flew out of San Antonio and arrived in San Diego around lunch time.

The tourist thing to do right??

We found a great brewery (one of a gazillion) called Ballast Point. Our fave was their Kolsch

After dinner at Monello's we found a great winebar inside an old house.

We definitely enjoyed our first day and night just getting away, eating a great meal, and trying out some stellar wines!
